This sandy peninsula of Marin merriment combines nicely with trips to nearby Bolinas, Muir Woods and Mt Tamalpais - with Point Reyes only a bit further.
The great white shark equivalent of Manhattan ("red triangle" district) adjoins offshore and is home to the highest concentration of toothy lurkers on the planet.
In reality, shark attacks on humans are rare and swimmers are advised to watch for Oscar-less rip tides instead. Just the same, if Mr Spielberg shows up, why not get some lunch? :)
