Sutro Project / Arizmendi Bakery
This "worker-owned cooperative" feeds the Inner Sunset proletariat some of the tastiest bread, pizza, pies and pastries around. Named after economic revolutionary Jose Maria Arizmendiarrieta, a Basque priest who built a network of cooperative enterprises despite Francisco Franco's rise to power in Spain. The bakery has three sister cooperatives in the East Bay.
